is the glow plug relay functioning? its on the pass. fenderwell. is it a stick? if so pull it down the road. ease out in 2nd does it start?

ChrisL1 11-08-2011 10:48 PM

the glow plugs are hooked up to a toggle. and i turned my toggle on heard a click tryed to start it wouldnt fire for about 45 seconds. turned off toggle switchs and wait to start light didnt go off. its a 4 speed 4x4

o i have banks turbo kit and pyro meter. no boost gauge well got one just idk how to hook it up

turbo2332 11-09-2011 06:58 AM

just hook the boost gauge to a port on the intake track. anything from the manifolt to the turbo. my vote is pull the sucker down the road and pull start it. let it run for a few min. shut it off then see if it will start right back up. kinda sounds like air in the lines/fuel issue. we had this problem with our 86 not to long ago. once we pull started it its been good to go ever since. how cold is it in montana? its only gettin into the 30s here i dont have to pre heat anything yet??? and if the glow plugs were on long enough to drain your batteries. chances are they are shot.

so far its gotten about between 24 26 degree's but i just noticed my wait to start light was getting stuck on yesterday. so i think its been doing it for a while could my Gp soiloniod could be getting stuck on maybe it shorted out? i dont wanna just dump money into plugs and have this keep happening.

get out the old test light gotta start trackin, start at the cylinoid but it does eventually start up in the morning right?

ya when the glow plugs would actually work but sense they quit it wont unless i use ether but i hate that shit. weather its upper cylinder lubricant or not i hate it. i refuse to use it so its sitting till i figure out whats wrong with it.

get the light out see what you find. could be a weak lift pump or something of that nature as well

ChrisL1 11-11-2011 04:56 PM

cool thanks.

I think even if you had just one or two glow plugs out then it would cause it not to start. Weak batteries would cause the glow plugs not to be hot enough and the motor would not turn the rpms needed to start. I got my glow plugs on a toggle. my wait to start is on a lot of the time. I agree with turbo. pull it till it starts. test away.
