My '90 F250 7.3L starts easily and runs strong and smooth. Problem is if I accelerate hard and let up suddenly (rev up and let off) it dies. Doesn't matter if I am driving or not. If I am "easy" on the decellerate, then it does not die...only if I let up suddenly. No visual signs of issues / leaks. Engine has about 145K; IP has about25-30K. Any suggestions?

 

Were the injectors changed or tested when the IP pump was done?

 

governers are sticking. put on a new fuel filter filled with dieselKlean. that should free up the parts.

Fuel filter only has about 10k on it...should I still change it or try putting dieselking in existing filter?

 

change it, they are cheap insurance having a new one on. i change my fuel filters every oil change(3000-4000 miles)
