6.9 turbo doesn't want to start

I have an 86 f250 6.9 turbo...i'm suppose to sell the truck in a week or so and the truck has been sitting for maybe a month and a half since i bought my PSD and the truck has always started even if not pluged in and everytime i go to start it now it doesn't want to start at all...so i plug the heater in and put a charger on it as not to run the new batteries down and when i do get it started and i shut it off it will start like normal when its got some heat in it....it has brand new glow plugs, controller, and relay and its getting fuel....thanks guys.

does it start if sitting overnight? sounds like your fuel is bleeding back down. still have the factory water seperator? any return lines leaking?

no it wnt start after sitting all night even with it plugged in....wich doesn't make sense to me because the truck didn't sit for that long and i still started it every once and a while....don't know if the water seperator is factory its on the driverside firewall right by the fender...i've checked return lines and everything else for a leak a few times and haven't seen anything gonna check it again this morning just incase i missed something...i checked the fuel filter after it sat all night and it was still full...could it be the lift pump? thanks for the help man i really do love this site:tu:

ok i was checking for leaks again and then i opened the valve on the water seperator and a bunch of air came out and no diesel just a few drops after the valve was all the way open....so then i saw a plug on top of the filter housing and went to remove it and it was a little loose when i took it off... the oring on it was really jacked up so i replaced it and put it back in...cycled the glow plugs once and it fired right up without the block heater :tu: so thanks alot dieselcrawler if u wouldn't of mentioned the water seperator i might not of looked at it to see the plug :tu:

the factory water seperators are notorious for letting air leak in. i replaced mine with a RACOR unit and havent had an issue since.

So problem not solved...went to start it again and back to the same thing....I put a new lift pumP on it and same thing if I shut it off and wait 15 min or so I have to crank it for a while to get it tO start,,if I crack the injectors lines it is barely putting out ne fuel..but starts and runs fine with no gPs and starting fluid..ne other ideas?:argh:

still getting air somewhere. just for a test, bypass the water seperator.. just loop the hoses.

JC-6.9 02-25-2011 06:44 PM

Bypassed it and still same thing....although I think it started quicker than before

Cant say for sure though
