Unbelievable circumstances

Well i'm back with a really good one. As you know i have had many diesel trucks and my favorite is the 87 ford. Dont know why but it is. Well I sold it to a friend because they were in a bad situation and in need of an automobile. Being the kind of friend i am i let them make payments, cut them a break on the price, did alot of the work when it broke down, and let them pospone payment when the truck was broke down. It was driven by his wife and she did not know how to keep her foot out of it. When they got the truck it did want to shift late (lack of vac) and it needed some other miner maint items (hoses and belts) but it ran great and the ac even worked. They give me a call right before thanksgiving to tell me the trans wont shift into high anymore. I told them the trans is screwed and will need to be rebuilt. Of course we know what happened next with the payments and all so i go and get the truck. He said he was going to help with the cost but aint seen that yet and is now avoiding me. Sol i went ahead and got it rebuilt so i could use the truck. Cost me $1025 because of the extent of the damage with a few other things. Once i got it out of the shop i put a new vac pump on it and took it back to the shop. On the way i blew a heater hose that i told my friend he needed to replace 4 months ago when the top radiator hose blew but of course it didnt happen like the several other sugestions i made. Anyways we patch it to get to the shop to get the trans to shift right. I told the mechanic we blew a hose on the way over there but i guess he didnt hear me. He takes it out on a test drive and blows the hose again but this time he didnt pay attention and over heated the engine. When he realized it he pulled over, shut it off, and proceded to put ditch water in it to get it back to the shop. Three days later i get a call saying the truck wont start (just clicking) so i crossed the solonoid and it fired but was missing. I then knew something was wrong so i pulled the cap and turned it over while it seemed once every rotation water shot 3 to 4 feet out of the radiator. Also it blew some oil all over the front of the engine. Talk about some bad luck. What really sucks about this whole thing is i was planning on selling the dmax to get out from the payments to get a boat so my real friends and i could go out in the gulf to do some fishing. I am also wondering if it cracked the block or its just the heads? I am kind of thiinking about going ahead pulling it and dropping a cummings? Any ideas or comments are welcome. Just needed to vent a little:scare2:

well first off, it is cummins. not cummings.

probly just the heads. possibly just a headgasket.

I cant believe i keep doing that. I do know how to spell cummins but i guess i wasnt thinking strait. Thanks for catching that and letting me know. I'll get it corrected asap.

I really do hope it is just gaskets but alot of the info I have been getting has been mixed on the chances of the head and or gasket. Most have been cracked heads.

I have advice, don't sell your stuff on payments thats what banks are for. If someone can't get a loan there's a good reason for it. :c:

Yea I screwed up pretty good on that one. I'm tired of trying to help people to just get bent over afterwards. One thing is for sure is he has messed things up for anybody else that may need help with anything. I will no longer go out of my way to help someone.

Is this not the mechanics fault for overheating the engine?

toughtrucks 02-05-2011 11:24 PM

I know it is his fault. I even thing he knows he screwed up but how do i prove it?
