my clutch rod broke so i replaced the master and slave cylinder on my 85 3/4 ton and i recently replaced the clutch n pressure plate, so bleeding this system is being a p.i.t.a! i'm not getting any air out of it and i've played with it for over 2 hours so any one have any tips or pointers? they would be greatly apreciated!!!!

bench bleed the slave, to do this hold it at about a 30 degree angle( rod pointed down) fill the slave no line attached, and run the rod in and out slowly replacing fluid and pumping out air, till all the air is gone, that should take care of the slave, with the pedal up, fill the master( with no slave attached)and let good ol gravity take the fluid through the line and into a bucket on the bottom end, when u have a steady stream of fluid running out. replace the rubber and the cap crawl underneath and replace slave cylinder and install it, jump in the old girl and pump it rapidly only moving the pedal about an inch, do this 10 or 15 times, occupy yourself for 5 minutes then jump in it and it should work:jump::jump::jump:

let me know if this helps just worked on mine

If you dont want to pull it, I bench bled mine on the truck. I disconnected the rod from the pedal and pushed it by hand under the dash. For some reason doing it all attached to the pedal isn't enough.

thanks guys i had it all apart n bechbled it did everything the right way n got a great peddle but the problem i ran into was the firewall pushin out about 2 1/2 inches so i made a brace from both sides of the master to the coresupport this helpe but its pushin the coresupport and all still about a 1/2 inch! anyone lookin for a plowtruck? i was pushin this morning and i believe the shift fork broke first it would go into all gears but nuthin would happen in 1,3,n reverse it would only move in second and fourth but i drove it back to the shop n its stuck in second and the shifter broke off in my hand!

Not sure how bad your firewall is cracked, but if the small bracket will work it can still be purchased from Ford for about $15. I got one for my 86 a couple weeks ago.
