Crack in Fuel filter header/assembly
Hello all,
I have a 94 7.3L IDI and found a crack in the Fuel filter manifold. Is there an easy fix, cause I am having a heck of a time trying to track down a replacement. The number on the Assembly is 1809433C1 made by International. Thanks :scare2: |

Looks like the O ring is bad for the fuel heater. It looked like the fuel was coming out of the seam on the filter assembly. I cleaned all the dirt and grime off and ran it for a while and its leaking out of the back of the heater port. How much am I into on replacing the O-ring. It does have cold starting problem. I found that my glow plugs are bad and looking to change them out this weekend.

make sure u only put motorcraft or IH plugs in. all others have a tendency to swell and break off. do a search on glow plug removal, i posted before directions so if a tip does break off it wont drop into the cyls.
there is an o-ring that seals the heater connection off. They dry out and you end up with a leak. International has these o-rings for around $2.00 each. All you need is one. Its easy to replace. First remove the filter. Then remove the wire connecter. Now use a 1 inch wrench on the filter internal threaded mount. When thats off the heating element will drop down. Then dig out the bad o-ring with a dental pick tool carefully as to not do damage to the aluminum housing. Install a new o-ring and grease up the heater connecter that fits back up in the head. Return all the removed parts and your done... The part number is 1811053C1. hope that helps |
