86 f250 bolt pattern to 92 f250 ? will they swap ?
 

Hello I have 86 f250 want to swap wheels and tires to 92 250 ? thanks

They'll fit. If I remember right, Ford had the 8 on 6.5" bolt pattern from the late 40s-early 50s up to 97-98. GM and Dodge still have it so it want rims from them, they'll usually fit too. 99 and newer Ford use a 8 on 170mm pattern and they don't fit.

The wheels will swap, ford used the same 8 lug pattern up until late 98.

The full float axles ford used have a larger center hub than chevy/dodge and the OEM wheels wont fit over it.

So does that mean that factory GM aluminum rims wont fit my truck? A buddy of mine just bought an 03 GMC Dirtymax and it has the GM rims that I like and have always wondered how they'd look on a Ford. He said this coming spring I could probably have them, but if they wont fit... :humm:

u can go to town with a carbide bit and open the center hole out. i had h2 rims on my 86, had to remove a 1/8 inch or so from the center hole to fit.

Did you ever have any problems after doing that? Was it real hard to keep it a round hole?

wasnt to hard. the lugnuts center the rim to the hub, so reallt the hole can be a little off and still work. it isnt hub centric. look at any aftermarked rim, the hole is loose over the hubs.

i know i'm posting in an old thread, but i just wanted to inform you that if you hone the hub hole yourself the next time you get tires put on and balanced you will have a hard time balancing them, most shops don't have the adapter that holds the wheel to the balancer by the bolt holes, 90% of the machines clamp the rim to the machine by the hub hole and if it is off center you will never have a proper balance.
