Nowhere near "plug n play". A 94 would not have a 351Modified in it. Ford stopped running the 351M/400 sometime in the 80s, therefore, the ZF5 was not available with the 351M. For motor mounts, you would need a set of 7.3 idi motor mounts(92-early 94) and they would bolt to the 6.9. You would be better off to find a ZF from either a 7.3 idi(direct bolt up) or a 460(needs some modification). The one behind the 351 will more or less be eaten alive, won't hold up long. Good luck.

94 = just a regular 351 NOT 351M

89 = ZF5 or E4OD

I've seen 89 6.9s with a ZF5 for sure. For those years I've seen quite a bit of different setups so I'm not honestly sure what's factory or not. I do know that I have seen factory 6.9s with a ZF5 though. Ford seems to do some screwy things though. My last truck was a 92 F-250 460 with a C6 from the factory.

1987 was the best year for an IDI as they still had the 6.9, you could get a ZF and you got the newer solid state glow plug system. Everything is so easy to swap on these trucks though that it's not unusual to see a 6.9 in an 88-94 truck or a 7.3 in a 83-87 truck. The ZF can be thrown in place of a T-19 or C6 as well. They were still using the C6 for awhile, my mother in law had a 1995 F-250 with a 351/C6.

That C6 was a great tranny but when thrown in with a 460, 4.10 gears, and living 20 miles from town, it wasn't so great on the wallet.

I have yet to meet an auto I like, every truck I have owned with an auto felt totally gutless.

You should take a ride in my dads chevy 1 ton. he pulled the 454 and put in a built 502 in it. Its got the 4L80E auto. Me and my brother used it to take in a little over 2000 pounds of scrap metal. Had to drive 70 miles to take it into Pacific steel. Got on the interstate and blew past a dirtymax towing another dirtymax like he was sitting still.
