Power Loss

Yesterday the truck was running fine. Today, it acts like it is loosing power so I have to keep my foot on the gas. Could this be caused by bad fuel or clogged injectors? Or possibly lift pump or i.p. problems? Crawler, I need your expertise.:argh:

fordman69 09-13-2010 07:45 PM

when was the last filter change?

Sandman8105 09-13-2010 07:51 PM

Just changed the fuel filter about two weeks ago.

DieselCrawler 09-13-2010 08:03 PM

how full are your fuel tanks? also does it act like it is running out of fuel or not. any smoke?

Sandman8105 09-13-2010 08:51 PM

Each has about a half a tank. It does act like it is running out but no smoke.

At least a half a tank or more.

What about low battery voltage? Could that be causing it?

fordman69 09-13-2010 09:59 PM

Low voltage wouldent do it sounds like fuel problem first I would top off tanks the pick up tubes and anti gel valves brake off the pick up tube. Then any wet spot on your fuel system could let air in the lines if all this checks out check lift pump should have 5/6 psi at the shrader valve up at the filter.

Just wondering because the batteries went dead. Not sure yet if they are junk or the alternator is bad. That is why I was wondering about a voltage problem. Second time today. Yesterday was fine though.:argh::dang::scare2:

Sandman8105 09-14-2010 11:30 PM

As long as it's running and the alternator is turnning, its fine. Kill is and it won't start. Changing the batts. friday. Still, would that cause it to act like it has a fuel problem?:s:

DieselCrawler 09-15-2010 07:15 AM

shouldnt. these beast do need to crank fast. i recommend getting the biggest batts u can get, in CCA. i am running 1000 CCA batts. cranks really fast.

Sandman8105 09-15-2010 11:47 PM

Crawler, what kind are ya running and where did ya get them?

DieselCrawler 09-16-2010 06:10 AM

Sandman8105 09-18-2010 04:00 AM

What brand and where is the best place to find them?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

1 more quick question. What is the best way to get the door hinge pins out to replace them?

DieselCrawler 09-18-2010 09:34 AM

not sure on that one.

Sandman8105 09-18-2010 12:14 PM

Chisel the brass bushings and drive the pins out? The new bushings are open ended but, the old ones look like a cap (or tech.) a plug. Any ideas, sugestions, or solutions?:argh:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Drill them first?

DieselCrawler 09-18-2010 04:52 PM

never did them on a ford, only gmc. they are easy on a gmc.
