Can I use a tractor turbo?

Yesterday I found an ad on craigslist for a couple of Massey Ferguson combines being parted out. I call the guy up and ask what he wants for the stacks and elbows off of each one. He says 50 bucks, I say ok. Well, I went out there tonight and checked them out. One was all rotted out so I ended up only getting one stack. I pull it and leave there with a stack, cast iron elbow, and downpipe(I guess you'd still call it that on a tractor) for $25. Anyway, I'll get it mounted ASAP but my question is can I use the turbo off that combine on my truck? I figure remote mounting it is going to be easiest and since I already have the downpipe, the rest might be fairly easy. I know absolutely nothing about tractors so I have no clue what size engine is in this thing or what. The guy wasn't there when I was and his daughter didn't know any more than I did. And of course I didn't think to take any pics of the motor or turbo until I got home. :argh:

Possibly, would depend on weather it was large enough or not. Just remember on an IDI it's not advisable to run much boost without doing any internal work on the engine.

engine size

if the combine had a 6 cylinder it is a 352 perkins about 210hp

It was a 6 cylinder. When I climbed up top trying to pull the downpipe back I thought it looked really small, like it would fit in my truck pretty easily.

I'm also worried about it being too big and my truck not being able to spool it.

I have seen them installed in older f350 trucks not sure what they used for bellhousing. I drove one. It worked very nice.

I knew a guy with with one of those motors in an old chevy dually. It was pretty interesting.

I'm not looking at using the motor, mostly because I don't think I can afford plus I would have no idea how to mate it to my tranny. I'm just trying to find out if the turbo will work. It would be pretty sweet to swap the motor in though.

tractor turbo

I cann't see why you couldn't use turbo. if it has enough capacity for your idi. The turbo does know what your putting it on :)

How do I figure out if its the right size?

turbo

no idea how they figure it out but the turbo off the combine 354 is less cubic inches then your 6.9 which I think is 420 cubic inches so it wonn't oveboost your engine. I would go by cubic inches on engine and go from there. BUt get gauge so you know how much boost you are getting.
