7.3l idi head studs?

I've got a 94 7.3 idi that I want to turbo vie been looking around and the kits for it only put out around 8 to 10 psi of boost. I was told that the head gasket won't hold more then that. Does any one kno where I can get custom made head gaskets and head studs for it. Or any other ideas.

ARP for the studs, they arent cheap for the 7.3s though

a friend of mine had a copper headgasket made at a place ill get the contact info. you send them a gasket and they make one out of dead soft copper for like 20 bucks. theyre good gaskets and are like .100 thick

Thanks Hyde I'll check those arp ones out. I've never installed them b4 are the hard to put in?

"coalrollin12v". Thanks. Those gaskets will hold up under more boost tho right? I'm looking to push somewhere around 15 psi hopefully with out grenading my motor.

head studs aren't hard to put in. And your block can hold up to 14 psi without studs but anything after 12 psi you just super heat the air and you'll loose power so a intercooler will be needed. Your hole motor will hold 16-18 psi max without dropping compression, hope this helps out

Copper headgaskets aren't exactly daily driver material

Thanks. I was planning to put in an inner cooler anyways. The truck is my everyday tow rig play toy and daily driver so I'm looking for all around power

cowboyford16 08-16-2010 06:30 PM

what else you plan on doing to it

blackcloud21 08-16-2010 07:49 PM

the 7.3 will really hold that much boost? n if u do put the head studs in is it better off to just put heavyer gasket in it?

"cowboyford16" I plan on putting 4:88or 5:13 gears not sure which ones yet. The way the stack is done is half fast so ima re do it with 4 inch pipe into dual 6 inch stacks. And build some bad ass home made bumpers and ladder bars. Truck looks great now I'll get some pics up soon.
