:humm:hey all i been thinking since my tranny is showing the signs on 250000 miles how hard would it be to stuff a 5 speed into the truck it's got the e4od in it now and it's 4wd. thanks tim

Read this pretty much everything applies to your truck as well. This was pretty recent too.

yeah i just finished doing mine not to long ago...it wasn't as hard as i thought it was going to be other than my exhaust going to my turbo...i say go for it
from what i can tell it will be a pain in the butt gotta put a cluch slave in (don't know what that is) and the pedals and also the tranny right? plus a new fly wheel? sorry not to filimilar with trannys. o and a got the non turbo and got a e4od now if that helps at all. :nope:
The slave is the hydraulic cylinder that pushes the clutch fork, just find a donor truck that has all the parts you need :c:
ya planning on just finding a parts truck and grabbing everything that's attached to the tranny right? mu options are the c-6 only right? thanks for your support guys i'm only 18 and still kinda new to this.
C-6 is an automatic, you're lookin for a ZF 5 speed:c:
o ok you guys reccomnd a 4 speed of the 5 speed? how about mileage with the standaed vs auto?
if ur truck isn't turbo then it would be a breeze.....that was the only problem i had with my swap i thought it was going to be alot harder turned out to be pretty painless and it was def worth it :rocking:
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- i haven't figured out my mileage yet but i can tell u i get way better mileage with the zf 5 speed vs the 3spd auto that was in the truck and i have my IP turned all the way up |
The auto you have now has a taller OD gear than a 5spd which usually gets better mpg at least as far as highway cruising. With 4:10's, 285's and a 5spd, I can get 17-18mpg out of my truck around town, I get about 14mpg on the highway.
