noise issues
 

my truck just recently started making some wierd noises and it sounds like it's coming from the transfer case. It makes all kinds of sounds while im driving and is the worst when letting off the gas and coasting. The truck starts vibrating a lot while slowing down and makes really loud rattling noises. There is a little bit of play on the input shaft also; like I can wiggle it back and forth. Dont think it's supposed to be like that but dont know that much about it either. I was thinking if I can move it around the input shaft bearing is shot and the noise is just the driveline rattling around really bad while it's spinning. The truck also just recently started making a loud clunking noise when I put it in reverse. Any suggestions would be great because it is very annoying driving around listening to that. Thanks

have you checked all the universal joints on both the front and rear drive shafts yet? I would start there then if thats good then look at the transfer case.

i would bet it is a ujoint in the rear shaft. set parking brake, put trans in neutral and wiggle the driveshaft looking at the ujoints. if any play is there, replace the joint.
