I play in the mud quite a bit but a couple of my friends have built rigs for trails/rocks and I'm kinda getting into that too(more of the trails than rocks) so I just wasn't sure if a turbo would be real great for that.:humm:

DieselCrawler 05-14-2010 07:00 AM

cant see how it would hurt on the rocks. i idle on them so turbo wont be doing anything.

Ok, I guess I'll start trying to save for one then. That was about the only thing that was holding me back. Thanks :tu:

Edit:
I was looking on the ATS site and they're not showing a turbo kit for the 6.9L/early 7.3L anymore. Did they discontinue it or something?

DieselCrawler 05-14-2010 11:12 PM

mpt sure. i got mine used out of a salvage yard for 700 bucks.

:humm: Maybe I can find one online somewhere, maybe ebay. Anyone know how the Hypermax setup does? Everyone I've seen/heard/read about has an ATS or Banks.

I figure since my original question had to do with transmissions I'll post this question here too. I was checking fluids on the truck today and noticed that my tranny is leaking from where it bolts to the t-case. Its still got plenty of fluid but I wiped off were it was gathering on the bottom and by the time I had put the plug back in from checking the fluid, it had gathered up already. This was just a few minutes. Is that seal known for leaking or going bad? Also my t-case is leaking too but have't inspected that one yet to see where from. Probably tomorrow. This is getting frustrating. I though I had found everything that needed fixed and was going to be able to start with mods.

There shouldn't be any fluid in the coupler between the transmission and t-case. If it's red ATF leaking out then your t-case seal is bad. If it's gear oil then your output shaft seal on the tranny is bad.

I've got gear oil coming out of the tranny and ATF coming out of the t-case. I don't have a socket or wrench big enough to open the check/fill hole on the t-case to check its fluid so I'll have to go to the shop on monday and borrow one. I'll look to see if I can find where that ones leaking from later today. Plus I have oil leaking from my motor but i think its on valve cover gaskets. I have quite a bit that runs down the back though but I doubt that its the rear main.

I have gear oil that leaks right where the transmission bolts to the transfer case as well. It leaks so slowly I am not too concerned. Did any of you guys ever use Lucas Oil Stop Leak? any pro's and con's?

DieselCrawler 05-16-2010 01:01 AM

i wouldnt. just keep an eye on the level will u have to pull the trans, then replace the seal.
