to turbo the old girl. got a used 94 idi turbo engine for 800 bucks, complete from turbo to oilpan, fan to flywheel with downpipe.

gona try and get it installed this weekend. sorta like a little kid in a candy store, cant wait to get it on. never drove a turbo idi. have ran my 6.9s for 5 years now.

Sycostang67 04-29-2010 04:08 PM

Sweet, does it have the factory down pipe though?

DieselCrawler 04-29-2010 09:01 PM

:argh: Been looking for a turbo for mine, yet I havent found any cheap enough to go with. Good luck with it :rocking:

very nice

DieselCrawler 04-30-2010 06:43 AM

thats a banks setup. they are all sorta different. and since i got the entire engine, i could see how it all went on. shouldnt take long to get on the truck.

CARP 04-30-2010 09:02 PM

Damn, I kinda want to out a turbo on my 6.9, but I can't find a good one for cheap!

I found an ATS kit at the pick n pull last week, turbo was trashed so I took everything else. Gotta make an adapter to go from the ATS up pipe to my H1C now

DieselCrawler 05-01-2010 01:28 AM

well, got it on. will say, ALOT quieter now. exhaust tone went way down. lots of highpitched turbo whisted from around 1500 rpm and up. sorta annoying so far. lol. but power is alot better now. still havent turned up pump to match it. pyro hasnt gone above 1000 so far. so i got some room to play yet. need to but boost gauge on now also.

Sycostang67 05-01-2010 02:08 AM

That was quick, you'll get another boost of power when you get the down pipe replaced. :tu:

FarmDiesel 05-01-2010 04:25 AM

Damn you work quick...
Can I hire you to install a turbo and 4x4 on mine? :argh:

DieselCrawler 05-01-2010 11:39 AM

FarmDiesel 05-01-2010 01:43 PM

You can get a downpipe from banks for a little under 100, it's about 3" OD or spent the 280 for the new housing and the 84 for the downpipe from ats. If there are other options then I don't know about them yet, I have the same turbo, just need to find a new dipstick for my tranny.

DieselCrawler 05-12-2010 09:05 AM

so u are running a banks downpipe on the ats turbo?
