older truck frames
My 91 f350 got hit on side while hauling trailor. It has good 7.3 with turbo in it. can I use 3/4 frame frame from 1984 to replace the 1ton frame to bring it back to life or is the 1ton frame a heavier frame.
thanks leo |

the frames are close, some bolt holes might be missing and other small stuff, but should work. i have 1990 suspension and axles under my 86.

older truck frames
what I need to know are the 3/4 ton and 1 ton frame the same strength or is the 1 ton fram heavier built.

to my knowlege they are same thing. look identical to me.

old truck frames
ok thanks they did look the same to me as well but I had heard that the one ton frame was made to take more load so i'm asumming that only means heavier suspension on same frame. So Great the old truck will live again

You might have to drill a few holes, but strength wise they are the same.

It will be strong enough, but being from an 84 the it will be shaped different. From what I've been told (was born in late 80's) they reshaped them right around 88-90 I would look but the oldest pickup that I've owned is my 90.

yes your probably right I looked at that to. I have found a 92 3/4 ton in excellent shape just needs motor put in. the 7.3 in it has blown head gaskets or possibly more. But is a low milage truck. so will take my good 7.3 and put in it. Just have to find solid flywheel and clutch kit for it.

one thing on older frames is they flex more. the new ones are more rigid.
