Water In Fuel Light

My water in fuel light does not work. I'm assuming water doesn't get into the fuel often, but is this bad? And is there an easy way to fix it?

how do you know your water in fuel light is not working :humm:

It doesn't flicker when I turn the truck on.

Have you tried changing the bulb?

CARP 03-20-2010 10:19 PM

No. But I will tomorrow.

Try dumping water in your fuel; if the light doesn't come on, it's broken. :rocking:

Water in the fuel is not a common occurance but could not be called rare.It is happening often inside storage tanks, including the trucks tank from condensation from temprature diffrences. Most rigs are equipped with water seperators that should be checked and drained (2 or 3 times a year for me)once and awhile and there will be no need for the lite.It is a regular maintnance item thats not needed to be done on gassers but oil burners do.Once your truck dies in the middle of the night from water you WILL start checking it semi-reguarly.

carp, your W/S is located on the drivers side of the firewall, inbetween the brake booster and the fender. there is a pull tab and a drain on the bottom::WORD OF CAUTION:: the W/S on the older fords are prone to leaking air into the system if you open it up. they are junk. replace it with a aftermarket one or bypass it and install a 7.3 idi style fuel filter which has the seperator built in. u will need to get a 7.3 idi fuel filter lid as the filters are open on the bottom. i have an aftermarking one installed and drain it every oilchange.
