Fuel System

So I recently purchased a 89 F350 with a 7.3idi from ebay. My wife picked it up in MS. I was unable to attend because of work. The seller claimed, everything on the truck works as it should and there were no issues.

Then as soon as we got it home it had a fuel leak from the front tank. There was a hole in the front tank and had to be replaced. So I was already annoyed about that. A hole in a fuel tank is not my definition of "No issues." So I finally have the truck home and going through it will a little more detail I notice the fuel filter/water separator is missing. The truck supposedly had work done to it by a diesel shop in MS and they turned up the injected a bit for a little more power, which is common. But is there a typical place people will relocate the fuel filter too? I am unable to locate it at this time, and the seller sounds like a complete moron.

I have tried to call the shop who did the work to verify what all was done, but they are closed until Monday.

So after a closer look, the filter had been relocated. Found it

Injector Pump?

hey guys, just purchased an 85 6.9 4x4. I have replaced all the injectors on it due to the truck "running" off on me some.

Here re is the issue. It runs great and smooth at idle and for about 25 minutes while driving. Then all the sudden it starts to have an injector knock and massive amounts of smoke blowing out. During this time it will sometimes try and run off but not much and then eventually it will basically die and won't start again until it sets for a while.

My my thoughts are that it is the injector pump, maybe a seal or something but don't know much about the pumps. I am familiar with the engines though so I understand it.

Anyone got some some possible pointers or ideas?
