Overheating?

Hi I drive a 93 7.3 turbo diesel. I parked it for about 4 months. In the 4 months i managed to install 3 inch dp 4 inch straight back exhaust. I also replaced the valve cover gaskets and I took out the oil cooler and replaced the o rings and gaskets because of the oil in the rad. Today I started it up and drove into town to fill it up it sounded a little different from before but not much. I got back home and checked everything for leaks. I noticed that everything was pretty damn hot! I only live about 10 min out of town and it seemed too hot. The temperature gage read normal running temp and the rad had plenty of coolant. I don't even want to say this but could it possibly be because the oil isn't properly cooling because of the oil cooler? Also there is steam coming out of the tube that connects the the air filter box and the valve cover.

put a real temp sensor in before you condem the temp sensor .. raytek infaread temp gun .. IN head will be warmer than in the usual place .. near the T-stat..

Difference is about 20-25* warmer .. thats what I had done .. and it was real accurate :tu:
