Ok, got my IP in today and bled the system and drive it around. While decelerating the engine hunts instead of engine breaking. Which way should I bump the IP? Twards driver or passenger side?

about half a dimes thickness towards the passenger wide, IF you lined the mark on the injector pump with the line on the filler housing

I'll double check, but the only mark I saw was straight up on the pump, and when I cleaned more it looks like there's a mark on the timing gear housing and I'm sitting just to the passengers side of that. My problem is when I let off the throttle and decel, my engine starts to "hunt". My idle seems a little high, I think this pump came off a auto trans motor, mines a stick.

Shouldn't matter, could you explain what you mean by "hunt" like the idle surges very low till it almost cuts off?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

The timing is very sensitive, dimes thickness is equivalent to 4 degrees

You advance till you hear the "powerstroke rattle" on start up, which sounds exactly like someone dumped a cup of marbles into your engine, you will definitely notice when you hear it, then retard the timing until it is gone

Hunting= surges with the foot off pedal. Like a hop to the rpm the whole time it's in gear and I'm decelerating. Push clutch in and it goes straight to idle. Idles great.

Okay, when you installed the pump, did you prime the fuel system before starting the struck? As in remove the ignition connector off the starter relay on inner fender, turn over engine, and bleed out the air from injectors? If so, I would remove your filter, fill 1/3 with atf, and the rest with diesel, then run it

Couldn't help but go to the FB link on your profile. Digging the bike

Thanks, about the bike, next project, went to start and all electricity went out on it. Weathers been too rainy to worry about that right now, but back to the truck, no I cracked 4 drivers side bank and cranked it for a bit, till I got fuel, cracked passenger side and she started on me and died, tightened all injectors, fired up ran like crap, cracked each line till I saw clean fuel coming out and she smoothed out. Idles good, accelerates better than before, the only catch is while slowing down in gear it's like someone is taping the throttle peddle about twice a second.

Sounds like insufficient fueling, I would replace your fuel filter, and replace your lift pump

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Certain it is a fuel issue as well, I would also check your connections for the fuel lines at the lift pump.

Ok, l check that tomorrow, also called my local diesel shop and was quoted about 1/2 hr to an hour to time it, so would be about $55-$110 depending how long it takes him. He's been around for quite awhile so I might have him out me on the books, but he's a week out, so hopefully I get it before then.

Takes less than 30 minutes for the whole swap longest part is taking out the two bolts that hold the lift pump to the side of the block
