Are you sure your batteries are good?

They may turn it over but that in no way means that are up for the load

New batts a month ago

Have you looked into your voltage regulator? Also it's pretty common that a "new" alternator is bad out of the box, but I'd check the regulator before swapping it out once again :humm:

my Regulator will CHIT on me every year about 2-3 weeks in to the cold weather ... with out fail for the last 5Yrs. :humm: ... not entirely sure why though ... but i have an extra all the time ... alt has gone 2 times in 5 yrs .... 1 vac pump in 5 yrs too ....

looks like some people just get all the luck

johnnyringo 11-01-2013 10:54 PM

not sure wear the regulator is located ?

4x4manonbroke 11-01-2013 10:59 PM

pass side just behind the starter realay thats on inner fender .... should be on the fender l;iner ... like on top ... lil crome box .. bot 3"X1" or so

johnnyringo 11-02-2013 04:31 PM

Don't have one

So you have an internal voltage regulator? I'd look at my battery cables, grounds and any fusible links between the alternator and the batteries as well. On my truck if I so much as look at my terminals the wrong way it will short out my battery and cause it to drain within the blink of an eye :td: it's also an 8 year old battery :c:

yeah , need to check for the exciter wire ... should be a field and realy/exciter type wire ... it gives the internal regulator the signal to charge and how much is needed... :tu:

I have looked at it and two wires go to the silinoid on the firewall the other one Goes to the dash to the battery light

4x4manonbroke 11-04-2013 08:17 PM

how manny wires on your alt ? .... can u posta pic of under hood twards pass side please ? ... if not look at my 88 build pics and you will see it ... pass side lil crome box

johnnyringo 11-05-2013 07:37 AM

It has three wire plug one loops back to the alternater another goes to the finder at the starter solenoid the other one hose to the dash plate
