6.9 Draw, Searched and Nothing

Ok, so. ive been working on this damned truck for the last eight weeks, full rebuild and such, axle swaps, tracking down turbo kits and parts, and just an over all restoration. And now i look like a total fool because i cannot find the power draw

The person that owned the truck before my friend bought it, had wired the glow plugs and starter on a double throw switch (down is glow plugs, up is starter).

now with all that said, the truck was running like a total champ up until last night when i let the actual owner touch the truck. he drove it by my house to say hello and thank you. and when he left the batteries were dead. i jumped it he left.

Now every time he turns the key forward, (not using the glow plugs or starter) the battery volts starts to drop faster than ive ever seen. i have no idea whats causing it or why, but its becoming quite annoying.

Replaced
-ALT
-Voltage Reg
-Auxiliary Battery Relay
-Random Wires

Sounds like a dead short somewhere. The glowplug relay could be stuck in the closed position or a wire came loose or wore through somewhere. Do an overall look-see and if you don't find anything obvious, start disconnecting the large load components one at a time. Ed

I went through almost every wire. To no avail

Another thing to check would be the battery. If the battery is on the way out, it can have full voltage until a load is applied, but then drops like rock. Have the battery load tested to be sure. Ed

If you have full current going through that toggle switch instead of using relays, it might have shorted inside.

I thought About that but the switch is behaving normally. And the batteries are 10 days old
