6.9 idi wont start
Hi. I have a 6.9 idi that wont start. The truck will run on starting fluid but not of diesel. I put new return lines on it an new o rings around injectors. I also put new fuel filter on it and new diesel it the tank. When the truck turns over their is white smoke coming from exhaust. I bled all the injector line several times too. i dont know what else to do to get this truck running. Is their a solenoid that could be bad or am i just not doing something right . Please help!!!:scare2: :argh:

Welcome to the site

Maybe is your fuel pump
Injection pump is new. I didnt put it in so how do u tell if it is in time? Or could it be the power supply? Thanks every one for helpin me out on this
Also check to see if you glow plugs are new. The cylinder may not get hot enough to ignite the fuel in the cylinder
How do you test the glow plugs?
This is what I found out http://www.ehow.com/how_6504958_glow...iesel-bad.html
Thank you i will try that next!
Tell me how that go
Iv got three bad glow plugs
okay best idea is to replace them all because the good one will soon go bad and after you replace them reply on the result.

Cylender number 4 glow plug was broke off in side the sleve. Still trying to pull it out.
Hope you get it out, and the truck start to run on diesel fuel and not starter fuel
I dont think they are in their. But im gonna pull heads an find out!:scare2:

What going on,

If you are going to spray, you have to unhook the glow plugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you push in the air plunger by the fuel filter and fuel pumps out while cranking, you lift pump is good. If you loosen your injectors and while cranking saw fuel start to pump out you got the injector blead. Plus your injection pump should be good. Unhook the glow plugs, plug the truck in for a few hours. Give a quick spray and the truck should run I would do a compression test if it still wont start. |
