head gasket and studs 7.3 idi
im and getting a 94 f250 7.3 idi non turbo from factory this weekend but it has a banks side winder turbo pushing 10 psi on it and i want to end up being able to turn the pump up a little more and a few other mods and push more the 10 psi and replace the head gaskets and put head studs in it. what are some good relieable gaskets to get that can with stand the pressure and where can i get studs for the head? i cant find any studs for the idi non turbo engine. will studs that are made for the 94.5 -97 work ?
thanks |

thanks Now I have a reliable truck that burns anything. Now it makes 15 psi and goes faster than I want to go in a old truck. :scare2: |
What brand are the studs ? Summit sells them but do they also make them in their brand ? And yeah I'd love to do a intercooler but that gets pricey. What head gaskets did you use ?

when I made my pipes for the intercooler I made 3 cuts to the oem powerstroke pipes and reclocked them. So I didn't need crazy piping I used what I had. the only pipeing I had to buy was from the turbo to the oem pwstk pipe. look in the pics. The intercooler cam off a car I had laying around, and even in Ebay the same one new is 300 but I have seen many sold for cheap. Even a powerstroke intercooler works, just a lil more fabbing to make fit. Javier |
I see thanks for all the info I really appricate it and your truck looks awesome. Did you say you have to much speed though or power now ? And your truck was melting pistons before ?

I used the powerstroke intercooler, larger so takes some more cutting of core support. I'd so my piping but it would be irrelevant, being your using a banks turbo

How much you have to end up cutting out of the core support did you have to do ?

Looks good but mine is a 94 so I'm wondering if its opened up a little more?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- And I found a intercooler out of a 24v cummins. 75 bucks don't sound like a bad deal. What do you think ? |
