Blowin Fuses

So out of the blue the other day I notice that nothing happens when I push the O/D off button, start to freak then notice my blinkers don't work either. Replace to fuse and everything works again, great. That is until I use my blinker, and the fuse pops again. So I think maybe the flasher is bad, replace it and the fuse, to no avail, it pops the fuse after two flashes. Then I notice on my way home tonight after popping the fuse, no more in the truck, that my brake lights aren't working. And my TBC isn't lighting up to indicate like it usually does. So does anybody have any ideas on where to start looking? I have a multimeter to use to test, but where should I start?

You may have exposed wires somewhere that are crossing overloading the individual circuits. Good luck with that one though. Another thing that I noticed with my 6.9 is that the previous owner had installed a tach behind the steering wheel. I replaced the fuse and it popped again after turning on the lights. Do you have any aftermarket wiring done to it i.e. Amps, tachs, stereo systems, H.I.D's? You may have to get beefier fuses. Hope this helps.

This is tough over the net, but it starts with a wiring diagram. Do you have access to wiring diagrams for the circuit?

Sounds like you have multiple bare wires shorting. After checking the wiring around the engine compartment for obvious shorting against hot metal, I usually start at the trailer connection and work forward. Normally find bare wires at a "rub" spot along the frame or where the wires pass through a panel. Good luck.
