1989 F250 7.3L IDI talk
 
so im buying a 1989 ford F250 XLT Lariat single cab long bed 7.3L IDI, and i wanted to know if theres any problems i need to watch out for. Im going to be using it for driving about 20 to 30 miles to work pretty much every day and i also do lanscaping. it has 126,000 miles on it and im getting it for $1800. needs a new water pump and valve cover gaskets (easey fixes) this is my first diesel truck so im new with it.

also i wanted to know what companys make smoke stacks for this truck i cant seem to find any

Stacks are universal, find some that you like and run with em.

As for things to watch for, SCAs!

SCA's are in your coolant. You have to monitor them or the high levels will eat away at the insides of the engine. You should read this...

Another question my 89 has a c6 trans and i dont know what gear ratio in the differential but if i wanted more speed out of it and didnt want to sacrifice towing power what ratiowould be the right choice

also does every coolant have SCAs and if not whats the harm in using coolant with no SCAs
