got my pyro in

well i got it in the mail today..
he he

i might try to f* it up tomorrow.

i think i already asked once but figured i would again to make sure.

before or after the turbo?

and did you guys take yer manifold off to drill and tap it? or just drill and tap it on the truck and let the filings blow out the exhaust?

before.... in the manifold..... towards the front of the motor in the non-wastegated half of the manifold..... i drilled mine with the manifold and turbo intact.... used bearing grease on the drill bit and a magnet next to it to get any stray shavings..... then when i tapped it i did the same but cleaned the grease off and reapplied every other full turn of the tap and then chased down in the hole with a pencil magnet....... worked for me

now that isn't the :q: correct :q: way but that is alot easier than removing the turbo, oil feed, oil return, and downpipe which is all a pain in the ass.... i did that (the post above) on my truck and saw no failure in my turbo from the small shavings that i didn't get out completely.......

I did the same thing but mine is in the rear of the exhaust manifold. The back three cylinders seem to run warmer I have been told. Just remember that right behind the turbo flange is a divider in the middle of the manifold, stay to one side or the other.

I did mine while it was running in addition to what the rest have done and mine is between the 4th and 5th cyl. ports. It is not as bad as it seems. I had never done anything like that and has been together for 30k miles with no problems. :c:

I did mine while it was running
same here, perty much blows everything out as it is done!

i did the grease and magnet trick myself too, you dont got too much to worry about as long as you get the most of them out a few fine filings goin out the exhaust aint goin to hurt it, and if your really nervous take the intake off start the truck and watch the turbo if it stops spinning then shut the truck off spin it backwards to free it up, no biggie

i think i'm gonna do the grease and magnet thing tomorrow.
i was goin to tonight but i had to stick around here.

I let my engine run also while drilling & tapping. The air pressure blows everything out forcefully. Works great but remember to wear safety goggles.
