Found these parts in my oilpan????
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone tell me what these are and where they are from? I dropped the oil pan on my 1996 stock 4bt inline pump cummins and these were there. The one piece is a complete snap ring thats been stretched. Please help.
Thanks Chad |
Probably from the injection pump. :ouch:

Time to tear it down......:ouch:
|
Do you reconize what those parts are actually from?
|
I don't that is why I said tear it down. That is the only true way you are going to know where they are from IMO.

From what I can tell the turbo must have gone.... Looks like these are parts from the bushing/bearings in turbo.
|
Not sure how the snap rings made it through the drain tube. :humm:
|
ha could be pieces of a piston, the aftermath of a KDP if the 4BT has this issue.... better to be safe, than sorry.
|
Its not KDp. I took the front cover off and pin is still there. It appears I'm going to dodge the bullet and its just old turbo remanants. Motor ran fine when I tested it. Hopefully this is old material.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- The bottom drain tube is fairly large, larger than the snap ring at least. I do not reconize the cast pieces but must be something from the exhaust section of the turbo. I found a turbo reubild kit and that snap ring is part of it. The bronze bearing in the kit is also part of the metal I found. |
