cummins conversion
hey guys:hellox:
i am starting a cummins conversion with a second gen 12 valve and planting it in a 1988 light 3/4 ton chevy wrangler long box single cab i am having some troubles with the mounting of the engine due to the IFS in the front of the truck. the running gear will be swopped out for 1 ton running gear but i still have the IFS i do not want to do away with it ? also i want to use a NV4500 from a GM what could i do to use the stock bell housing would the NV4500 from the GM bolt to it ? i heard of guys using the powerstrock intercoolers do to them being smaller to fit with a stock GM rad ? in general this is my first time doing a conversion my father did a conversion into a 1988 chevy 1 ton dually crewcab but the old body style and he had to raise the cab a inch ? please i would like to do this on a buget but not have just another cummins conversion please any help will be useful to me i really have no clue of the little things i will have to do :humm: thank you |
There is a conversion section on here,,,,,,
I did a conversion using a 97 6bt into a 92 chevy dually, 2wd, the motor fits just right without lifting body, and as far as the PS> intercooler being smaller is not correct, it is larger and much more efficient and that is why people want to use them. A 17x32 radiator is the perfect size radiator for the PS. intercooler set up, I used a aluminum one and it works great. There is a little trimming and a little fab work to make it all fit just right. Good lick. Bob |
