chevy and ford owners are just jealous cause they dont have the sweet flip up tow mirrors :w2:

dalton06 07-13-2011 12:12 AM

Down unless need em. These are the crappiest mirrors and vibrate and shake when up when driving on the interstate. Jus don't look right when unloaded with em up either.

Its not as much the flipping down its Havin to manually adjust the glass. Wich is a pain when today I might hook to a trailer then might un hook then re hook that night

the ones in my 05 were power, didnt have that issue, still, there are so many retards that run with them up all the time, it doesn't take more than 2 minutes to fix the mirrors even if they are manual, I hate excuses for laziness:hellox:

as for the chevy jealousy comment, my tow mirrors slide out, no flipping required, and they are all power so I can change them from the comfort of my captains chair:tttt:

Mirrors Up or Mirrors Down? How do you roll?

Yes I will agree there are a lot of people that have no business running with them up all the time but mine do not stay up for looks they stay up because there is really no need to put them down. Also I don't see it as laziness I see it as being practical.

95Ky5.9 07-15-2011 11:35 AM

I don't tow alot, but i keep em up cause you can see so much better with them up, and its an added benefit that they look good also.

chadcycle 2500 07-19-2011 09:24 PM

I have cool vue electric/heated mirriors, the truck had manual towing mirriors when I purchased it Dec 2010. Ihave the switch,& the factory wiring diagram, untill I do the wiring,I'm leavong them up for towing, its a pain to readjust them from up & down for now :hellox:

aguilar_15 07-19-2011 10:12 PM

I'm agreeing wih some guys on here, my manual mirrors are a pain to re-adjust. I ride with them up because I work with them alot and the length really helps when watching them little cars driving beside me. :dang:

1st_gen_puller 07-28-2011 04:01 PM

i don't have them but when i get them they will stay up... and i have power mirrors... what is the honest ''purpose'' for folding them down??? other than driver preference i cant find any... and no driver preference will be the same.. but i say always up... cause i tow a lot..

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

but my dads truck has 280,000 miles towing and have never been flipped up but he's use to the older style ford mirrors and cant get used to the dodge mirrors when ''up''

Hut 07-28-2011 04:15 PM

I like them flipped in I prefer the wider view and less chance of having someone smack into them. Only time I flip them out are when I am hooked up to the 5th wheel. Much better flipped in when towing smaller trailers IMHO.
Mine are electric so easy to adjust back and forth.

bluedieselram 07-28-2011 06:50 PM

down unless needed for towing but i rarely need em when i tow

chevyk1500 08-03-2011 10:36 PM

allways up dump box to big

panzer 08-08-2011 01:08 AM

Always down till i hook up the trailer........and they are pretty expensive
to replace!!!!!

Mirrors Up or Mirrors Down? How do you roll?

When I put my new elec one in they will most likely be up... It looks better that way to me

sharkdiesel 08-08-2011 09:46 AM

Personaly, I only run the mirrors in the extended position when towing my enclosed car hauler, which seems to help out a lot. But I definitely think they should normally be down.

H.R.D 10-02-2011 11:31 PM

Bump

BACONBITSFORU 10-03-2011 12:22 AM

Well After Having them on for a while I just have them down. Better view in the city and less chance of getting smacked.

vcustoms86 10-03-2011 04:29 PM

Down unless Im pulling in the 6.7. Down all the time in the 24v.

Got real close several times to taking a mirror off. After a few times of that I started flipping them down plus I got the power ones too.:tu:

BACONBITSFORU 10-03-2011 11:26 PM

I enjoy the power thats for sure...

Cutterw 10-04-2011 07:13 AM

I keep them up, but alot of its just a habit from my 01. I put them up and down for the first year of owning truck and had the mirrors fall out when I was adjusting them. Just never got used to having them down.

TTCummins 10-09-2011 03:45 PM

Have them up most of the time :c:

H.R.D 11-16-2011 03:37 PM

Bump TTT

double ought 11-20-2011 12:35 AM

down except for towing it is hard enough to fit over here no need to use the extra inches and yes it gets that tight!

Captain Call 11-20-2011 02:26 AM

Down! Even with a 102" wide load. I see absolutely no reason to run em up in the field goal position. Call me old fashioned but they just look stupid in the "up position"

12vCummins94 12-07-2011 01:50 PM

Up. They go down when they need to, but i like the look of them up (personal preference). Towing, or not towing...Loud and proud!

startin2mud 12-07-2011 03:02 PM

Mine are always up. They look good. I even swaped the glass from one side to the other to get the spot mirror on top. Works great for me.

RanchhandTCR 12-13-2011 08:51 PM

when I get tow mirrors they will stay down untill its time to tow so they will proably be up most of the time.

BIGHORN08 12-19-2011 12:43 PM

So I feel pretty dumb. After looking at this thread I went out to my truck and fiddled with mine. I've had tow mirrors on it the whole time & didn't know they fold out like that :argh: Oh well.... I still like em down

RAW 12-19-2011 01:16 PM

I keep mine down unless there is a trailer in tow, they was they were intended. Every time I see a truck with them up, and no trailer, I think "Wannabe".

H.R.D 12-19-2011 10:45 PM

I am starting to feel that way as well Ryan. Lord knows there are more wannabes then true diesel folk.:s:

Bigg Redd 12-19-2011 11:15 PM

Only up when towing. Down when not. :tu: Sometimes I overlook it when towing. Suffering from Oldfartatosis disease. :s:

Hehe Now you know. You will appreciate those mirrors if you ever haul something that is wider than your truck. They definitely don't vibrate nearly as much in the folded normal position.

MillerBoyzDiesel 12-20-2011 12:03 PM

up and down gets old on manual mirrors. I like the lazy way, leave em up towing or not. Gets old real fast trying to explain to your girlfriend where to push on the mirror to get it where you can see! Ive seen a few goin down the road with the pass one flipped and the drivers down, they musta had manuals too haha

1AMatt 12-20-2011 02:07 PM

They look good both ways! I Keep em down til you use them tho

Smittyloopster 01-07-2012 08:54 AM

I keep Mine up all the Time. Its easy to see around the back fenders...and It looks better up than it does down...:yeah:

vrodrex 01-07-2012 06:58 PM

Only put them up when towing. Don't like the look with them in "kill" mode. I've had to many mirrors ripped off by passing vehicals to make them an even easier target.

Damn Right I'm jealous of them! I didn't even know they made such a device..those are awesome!

RAW 01-07-2012 10:24 PM

I still keep them down unless I have the trailer behind. No point looking like a retard with the mirrors up and no trailer.:benjamin:
