About 3 weeks ago a rodent got into my wiring and caused a dead short, which fried my TIPM module; it has been at the dealer ever since and they have given me the run around about getting replacement parts. During my own research I have found out that there are no TIPM modules, and there is no ship or build date on new ones!

Therefore, my truck is now scrap metal until a TIPM module is found. The truck cannot function without one, and due to the programming, you can't get one from a junkyard!

I did more research on this and found out that Chrysler terminated their contract with the supplier without securing another supplier first. I have only been concerned with my year 2004, but there are potentially thousands of these trucks out there that could see their resale or trade in value disappear if they experience a TIPM failure!

Needless to say, this will be the last Dodge or Chrysler product I will ever own! I cannot believe a car company would engage in such irresponsible behavior with such a critical part.....

The TIPM--Totally Integrated Power Module--has been a problematic part on every Chrysler product since they began using them.

There *are* workarounds if you can find a dealer with a technician who has taken and/or paid attention during TIPM training classes enough to know how to do it.

It's essentially a fuse box with a huge printed circuit board underneath it, instead of relays and self resetting mechanical breakers they are electronically controlled by a computer program. When one circuit--called a "loop" in TIPM language--sees an overload for IIRC the 5th time, the computer will shut down that loop forever, and not allow it to reset. That essentially blocks it from working, and whatever function is attached to it also stops working forever.

Most of the vehicles do not use every loop on the board, and there are ways to reprogram spare loops/unused loops to take over the function. It involves some work with the scan tool and some re-wiring but a competent dealer technician can do it.

It's been awhile since I had to turn wrenches on light trucks but I've seen guys do it. Our 2007 had a TIPM issue when I bought it at an auction due to improperly installed accessories and the guys at McCord Brothers Dodge in Longview, WA were great to deal with and got it fixed with a "workaround."

Don't lose hope....the TIPM is kind of a good idea from an electronic standpoint, but the installation and construction is not well thought out---sort of like putting a laptop computer under the hood and saying a prayer is one way I've heard it described before.

All tho this if for a Jeep but if they sell the Jeep part maybe they have the Dodge also
