Default Anyone replaced a cracked dash in a 2nd Gen?

The dash in my wife's truck is cracked pretty bad from heat. How difficult is it to find a replacement dash. And how difficult is it to remove/replace. I am pretty well mechanically inclined. I know most dash pieces snap in place.

I have never done it but i need to in mine. If you are an ok Mech I dont think it would be too bad. I am considering just a dash cover though b/c I am too lazy to take mine apart.

I cheated and bought a dash cover but at the rate mine is cracking, there will not be much left to cover. Here is an option available from Gino (http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....er=DASHTOP-998) but I don't know much about it.

those dash covers won't do you any good if your dash is as bad as mine was. my cup holder fell outta the dash one day because all the plastic holding it into the dash broke. all the plastic beams holding the radio in had also broken and the radio was bsically just laying in there. the cover wouldn't have made any difference. i went to the junk yard. i pulled the dash out of my donor truck in about 1 1/2 hours. other than the dash trim, cluster and knee bolster the dash comes off in one piece. HVAC vents and all. there's a wire harness that runs from the pass side all the way to the driver's side. that's the pain in the *** part when you start fishing that out and then back in again. i lowered my steering column but kept it in the truck. there's not much for screws. the ones across the top and a handfull underneath. it took me from start to finish, all by myself, about 4 hours. i took my time because i wasn't going to pinch any wires no matter how long it took. BTW, you'll want to get some foam tape and replace the stuff where the dash vents and HVAC box meet up.
