John Deer injectors in a second gen 24V?
i was sittin at work the other day and happened to notice that the injection pumps on a john deere engine and a p-pumped cummins look a lot alike. then i got to thinkin in a earlier diesel power a fella took injectors from a john deere engine and put em in his cummins. i guess the question im askin is could i put john deere injectors in my 24 valve? what about my 1st gen 12 valve puller? kinda a dumb question but somethin made me think bout it so now im really wonderin.

there's a fellow in dieselpowermag that did that with his cummins powered for, but its strictly a sled puller. don't know bout regular p/u, might work

I know some tractors do run the VP44 pumps but there's more to it then that. You would have to look at the spray patterns, rates and piston head design. I'm sure there's more factors but those are what I can think of off the top of my head.

And this isnt a dumb question because anything is possible with enough effort and time. |

I remember seeing that article too, some guy's shop in Tennessee did it. IIRC, it was a 12V motor or a P-pumped 24v. Either way, I think there was a CONSIDERABLE amount of machining and custom fab work done to get them to work. We all know what that means too........... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$ |
Meacham Evans among a few others used to run the top feeds in a 24v application, most have gone back to a 12v head with a DT466 injector.

Thats what i here alot is either JD or recently like smokem said, an International injector because the nozzle is thicker and that means you can make a bigger hole without worrying about the nozzle coming apart from the heat and etc...

They are being used for the larger internal passage and large sac style nozzles that can support hone sizes in the 0.020-0.035" range.
