LED Eyebrow Projector Lights

Hey all, tried installing some aftermarket "projector" lights with LED indicators over the parking lights. They looked good, but, are not "plug-n-play" as the seller said they were.:duh3: I now get a high-beam indicator that never goes out, and the low beams come on only at partial power at the same time that the bright's don't turn off completely. Now the high beams are GREAT..... I can actually see the road now.

The boxes went away after I installed them.... (dummy)... and there were not any good wiring diagrams. Since I thoguht it would be an easy fix, I didn't keep much. Stupid me.

Has anyone tried any aftermarket lights and had a similar problem?

Thanks!

yah i have the same stupid things minus the eybrow. i have the projectors with the led turn signals.. you have to rewire them with relays.. they made them for a switched positive system instead of a switched ground like our headlight system is.. so you have to physically install a ground and install a load relay on the highbeam.. i cant really draw you a diagram as i suck on that..but basiccly what it is is there isnt a good enough ground and such.. but i would buy the headlight wiring kit its MUCH MUCH EASIER.

i tried rewiring them but i wound up just giving that up and doing this

its much much easier.. than since i used a h7 bulb instead of the 9005 in my low beam i used a 9005 to h7 adapter
which is found here:

yah they make the headlights more expensive BUT THEY WONT BLOW YOUR HEADLIGHT SWITCH.. YOUR HIGHBEAM INDICATER WILL GO OFF AND YOUR LOW BEAMS WILL WORK PROPERLY.. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT PROPERLY.. that is unless you can build this harness.. but after i looked up all the parts.. i would save about 20 bucks to do it myself.. i paid the 20 extra bucks for it to look profesional and save me about 4 hours worth of wiring..

good luck.

they are miswired from the sweatshop..... mine for my expedition were like thet..... they were wired for 9007 and i had a 9004 or vice versa..... if i was there i'd have them rewired for ya in less than 5 minutes...... or you can head on up my way since i won't be doing anything for the next 4 weeks or so since my :q: accident :q:

perty much what is happening is the wire, one hot (for the low beam) and the ground for both lights are swapped. therefore to get a ground for the light it has to make the current flow through the bulb making the light glow very dim. but the other power wire is in the right spot since the bright brights.... and it'll illuminate the low beams too since they are glowing since they are completing the ground.......... if that makes any sense.....

yah i thought it was the same way ben, i rewired my hanress also.. that didnt work. they really need relays to work properly.

ya i forgot that one one of those years they went from a common ground with switched hots to switched ground to common hot...... whoever designed that was a nucklehead.....

Thank you guys! What I thought was going to be an easy install is giving me some pretty major headaches. I think the lights will be great... once they work. Will try that relay set up to see if that will cooperate and do what I need it to. Appreciate all your help!!

I'm looking at the different wiring harnesses...... can I just go for the universal harness, or do I need to dump double the money for the Dodge specific harness? Any idea?

Guys, finally got all my"stuff" together and finished my house rehab. Took the time to do my wiring.... found this link online:

Used those ideas and got everything hooked up. Highbeam indicator is off (when it's supposed to be), looks like I've got A LOT more light coming out the front end.

Thanks again for all your help.
