BD Diesel Performance lift pump protection??
Diesel Power had an article in the July 07 issue about "Injection Protection" pg. 184, which is a kit to help out the lift pump. The kit is $250-$270. That seems like a relatively inexpensive, preventive measure. Has anyone used this or heard anything about it? www.dieselperformance.com

There are LOTS of kits like that on the market...

The kit is a good kit. The thing to consider is that ANYTHING is better than the in the tank "fix". If you read the mag. there was a fella who wrote in from Canada that asked them about it and they offered up the in-tank fix - at the same time of showing BD's kit. They need to give their collective heads a shaking.
Go BD, Glacier, FASS, Air Dog, Racor, Parker, Carter and the list goes on and you'll be fine. |
I have sold ALOT of these kits in the past few months..... For the price they are very hard to beat.

Your kidding right?

Kidding about what? Being superior or the price?

Both. BD knows their sh*t when it comes to diesel power. FASS makes one of the best (and they are a sight sponsor) both diesel rated pumps. Don't really want to open this can of worms so I don't really care...

Lets recap what Ive said here - the Walbro kit is the same price as the BD Diesel kit and has better results. From what Ive seen, the BD Diesel kit is nothing more than a stock Carter 4601 moved to the framerail and some replacement fuel line: http://www.bd-power.com/ram/product....%20Kits&tt=ram The Walbro kit is a big improvement (at least in my mind) and several people have reported excellent results with it. I am not disagreeing with anyone here - simply stating that the Walbro kit is the same price and offers better performance. Yes, DPP/FASS is a sponsor here and I have not said one single good or bad thing about their products. Yes, they have top notch products, but they arent the cheapest alternative.....lets face it, they are not a reasonable amount of money for some people. |
sorry not trying to piss in your flakes this morning. don't take it the wrong way.
all differences aside, I think that the FASS with the filters is the way to go - even if it is the most $$ and happens to be on my shelf. |
