Royal Purple or Amsoil?
 

not to sure what to run in my truck Amsoil or Royal Purple?

Being an Amsoil Dealer IO am very partial to Amsoil products and how they are made.

Another point is you cant become a Royal Purple dealer, but with Amsoil, you can become a preferred customer,or dealer,and get the dealer prices.:U:

No Castrol or Mobil1 where u guys live?

We all have our favorites, but if your choice is down to those two, if you look at various oil analysis reports, you'll find RP isn't quite up to snuff. If you go to BITOG website, there are enough reports there to make your head spin.
I can't vouch for RP, but if you choose the amsoil, don't think you'll be disappointed.
And it's cheaper.

What he said is the truth. Been running it a while and love it. Can't beat the service life of the oil. First fill went 10k due to a head gasket letting go.

I love oil discussions.

Schaeffers seems to be on the level of AMSOIL.

Doesn't seem like you can go wrong with any of the full synthetics.

Rotella smells the best. I use Rotella.

Additive is another thing to consider.

I also use K&N oil filters, because they have the cool nut on them.


I would like a guy who really knew oil to tell me what oil/ additive package was best for an engine running lots of water injection and having a constant, slight moisture introduced.

Royal purple comes purple so its actually hard to tell how burnt your oil is even the day after you fill up with it.

But Royal Purple matches the color of my truck so i like to think its made special for my truck. That's as good a reason as any to use it ain't it.:bat:

Just playin boys and girls, it really does match my truck but I have AMSOIL in everything but the motor. Damn trucks leaks way to much if I use synthetic in the motor.

Rotella? Is that the oil that smells like candyfloss?

We've got few options here, it's either Castrol, Texaco, Shell or Mobil1.

I'd like to try some of your brands. I might even get the lady to change fluids if that Rotella smells as good as everyone states.

I couldn't tell you which oil would be suited best but the additive your looking for is an emulsifier. They all should have them but to what degree?? Also anti-corrosion additives would rank right up there.

Best practice for any engine is to try and do a 20-30 minute run with the engine at full operating temp to evaporate the moisture out at least once a week. It's the short trips that helps all of us build up a little condensation. Yours may just be a little more pronounced.

It's mods like these that decreases the engine oil life and shorter intervals may be in order. The only other way to know is to do an OA and see how it's holding up.
