Idler Pulley Meltdown
2 Attachment(s)
Took a trip today about 120 miles round trip. About a mile from home the pulley gave way and took out the belt. I didn't see any mangled wires or anything but it sounded bad until I got the engine shut down(turbo timer slowed that process).
Had the stereo cranked up so hadn't heard any noise. :argh: Looks like it's been wearing for awhile but I just checked the belt this weekend when I was doing the oil and transmission fluid change. It looked fine and I haven't noticed any unusual noise. Here it is. Attachment 53991 Attachment 53992 Guess I will figure out what to do in the morning. :ouch: Hate to use my warranty for this at 80K. |
looks like the bearing might of been a little hot huh?? I wouldnt take it to dealership i would just go buy a new one and slap it on there and run it, should be fine

Hey Whit where is a good place to look for these? NAPA, Dealer or Cummins? It looks like I will need the whole thing. pulley, mandrel, and possibly the bracket.
|
I got mine at the Cummins store

Thanks you're right looks easy to swap out the mandrel/ shaft is just threaded into the cast iron bracket. :U:
