Good luck finding anybody to do anything mechanical with these trucks that:

A. Knows anything about what they are doing. Very few professional mechanics know how to work on Diesel Pickups. They either do gasser pickups or they do Semi's, neither of which have much in common with our trucks.

B. If they do know how to work on these things and they are good at it, they know they are in demand and a rarity so they don't come cheap.

This is why we spend so much time on these sites learning how to do it ourselves and trying to pass on the info so the next guy can afford to own what we love so much. Diesel Pickups aren't for the average truck owner. They have to be a passion cause they aren't easy or cheap to own and that's a fact.

This write up is for the Common rail engine that is more complicated then our VP equipped motors. Although I would never say a cam swap is a driveway project in our older 24V trucks it is much simpler then shown here. I've never done the swap myself but have helped a few times and never had to go through what's being described here.

But the info on the cam itself does make me want to know more about it.:humm:

I wouldn't say it was a driveway project either but with a clean shop and the right tools and the right instruction / direction it can be done.

mid atlantic diesel can install a cam for about 700 dollars thats seems pretty reasonable considering how labot intensive it is but if ur not near mt airy maryland maybe u should call around and find a diesel shop closest to u that can do it. there are alot of diesel perfshops out there scattered across the country and there are even some shops in canada as well
