1991 dodge 250 4X4
I have a 1991 dodge 250, cummins turbo diesel, auto trans. Came factory with P235-16 tires and am now running P265-16 tires. It has 354 factory gears under it. Truck is basically factory stock with no modifications. The problem is that I can't keep a transmission in it. The transmission has overdrive on it. The overdrive always goes first. It seems like the truck is always in a constant pull. Do I need to change he ring and pinions to gear the truck lower to make it easier on the trans? If so what gear ratio do I need to put under it? Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like the kick down cable needs some adjustment, its shifting to a higher gear too soon

Have you replaced torque converter with transmissions? Has non lockup converter but if internals are damaged, could be cause. Now there is a throttle position sensor on top of inj pump throttleshaft that is adjustable and is main cause of no OD. Have only been successful around 10% of time w/adjustments. Need scan tool for adjustment or replacement. Should be scanned anyways for other problems that might be contributing. TPS is cheapest thru Cummins, LMK if you need pt #. Tire size diff not that big of deal.

If it is your TPS there is a tps delete kit out there for 40 bucks that works great. From DNR Customs - Home
