Beginner Upgrades
Hi everyone, I'm new to the diesel world. I just purchased 2005 Dodge 3500. I'm looking into just getting some basic upgrades done, Gauges, Intake, and exhaust. I have been doing quite a bit of research but still not quite sure, So I have a couple questions since i'm a newb. I know I need gauges, however i'm not sure on what exactly it is I need. I do know I want the christmas tree set up as I am not good with touch screens and that stuff. So gauges? I am also thinking about an AFE stage 2 intake, and am torn if I should actually purchase an exhaust system, or straight pipe it. Everyone around me that dose have a cummins have theirs straight piped. Just looking to get a little more input and advice. Thanks guys

I would go with a set of isspro or autometer Boost, Trans Temp and EGT Gauges. A nice 4" or 5" exhaust will help it breath as well a a good intake setup. I have always had the best luck with the S&B or AFE Kits.

I like Glowshift gauges myself, Trans, EGT, Boost.
4" straight pipe in my opinion is all you really need. The stock intake is decent but I like running the Banks Power intake on my 07 Cummins along with they're monster ram inlet. Might consider a tuner after you get everything else, I'm running an Edge juice with attitude, works well but I'm not sure whats the best one for a cummins. |
Thanks for your input guys. I think i'm going to go with isspro gauges, boost, trans, egt, and fuel pres. seeing as the lp in this model have a tendency to crap out. Straight pipe, and put on abhaf, for now. Gotta take baby steps
