2011 cummins or 2006 cummins
 

I'm looking to buy a cummins and I have found two. They are on the same lot, same price and same mileage. One is a 2011 Ram cummins 4x4 quad cab automatic and the other is a 2006 Ram 5.9 4x4 Mega cab 6-speed manual. I like the interior of the newer ones a lot better but the 06 is a 5.9 and a six speed. The truck I buy will be used as a daily driver, the heaviest loads would be a 21 ft. Bass boat and a John Deere 4100. No long hauls or anything like that. I would be wanting to build the truck as money became available. Is one gonna be better than the other in the long run? Which is gonna cost more in fuel? Which will give the best bang for buck when it becomes time for upgrades?

i personally am a 5.9 guy, 06 you have the option of EFI Live (first year for the 5.9)
everyone and their brother makes parts for these engines, but the do for the 6.7 as well.
The 11 comes factory with some emissions stuff (can be removed)
The 11 is a bigger engine (Duhh why am i saying that)

Thanks for the reply. I think I'm leaning towards the 06 mainly because its a manual transmission. I'm still not crazy about the look of the mega cab though. Guess I can't really go wrong either way. I would like to know the cost of doing all the deletes on both trucks if anyone happens to have an idea.

the 11 will have an automatic 6 speed trans too! the 11 will also have a HE351vg turbo, this provides exhaust braking similar to a jake brake.. it will save on your brakes in the long run. both trucks will do the job. :tu:
