Stolen Truck Keys. Need Advice.
So like many, me owning the oldest vehicle in the family, my 99 24v, it gets demoted to sitting outside while the other vehicles get a place in the nice garage. Assuming, yes I know never Assume because it will straight up make an ASS out of U and ME, that since I live out in the middle of no where my truck was safe I so happened to leave a key in the center console. I woke up this morning to find my mailbox knocked down, rotten fruit under my door handles, and of all things my keys stolen. The thieves managed to break in through the rear sliding glass being that it was off its tracks, and steal my keys. I live in SOKY and here lately KSP has been reporting lots of local chop shops starting up. Im afraid ima wake up and she'll be gone.
I guess what Im asking is, is how do I need to go about handling this? Obviously I am getting new locks installed, but what about ignition. the locks i found online are external only. not internal? So just give me some advice on how i need to go about things. I guess what Im saying is, don't take things for granted even if ya live out like me. SOB's will still find a way to piss ya off and take what they're to lazy to work for. |
You're going to need an ALARM, that will keep the scumbag away:humm:
|
disable the truck unplug a few things so it won't start till you get new keys for it
|
Get the local yocals to process your rig for finger prints.
|
i would disable it so the truck wont start but will turn over that will it will make noise to alert you

there is one alternative you could put on an industrial gauge system murphy gauges they use a externally lactated switch box that has to be manually pushed in order for it to start I have used the 117 switch box put the switch box in a hidden spot you will have to push it to start it
back in the 80's i had a little datsun king cab diesel pickup that I installed gauges because when it got cold it didn't like to start so I just let it run no one could start it because you needed to know where the switch was to start it best theft deterrent made you could actually leave the keys in it and they will never get it started unless you know where the box is made sever hundred dollars in bets on I bet you cant start my truck I put my switch under my seat with just a little black push button sticking out TATTLETALE® Annunciators and Magnetic Switches | Murphy by Enovation Controls use this gauge A20P / A25P Series | Murphy by Enovation Controls you have to push the button until you have oil pressure or it wont stay running it will start for about .5 of a second and that's it sorry you live in a place like that makes me glad of where i live |
also, one of those cheapo "the club" things, if you line it up between the windshield and A-pillar could at least give you enough time to get out there to ...umm, "deter" the would-be thieves.
but yeah, i'd definitely be looking into installing something to disable the truck by some mechanical means until you get it sorted out so you don't walk out to an empty spot in the driveway. heck, something as simple as yanking off a couple wheels and storing them in the house could suffice. good luck! |
