Flexplate Question

I was just wondering what flexplate everyone is using? I just tore out the center of the stocker and was thinking about either a BD or a Goerend. Any input would be appreciated. I'm new here so im sorry if this has already been discussed (I searched but didnt find anything)or in the wrong section.

I'm surprised you've got a goerand converter and built trans without a flexplate! Most guys I hear of run BD flexplates. Does Goerend make them now, too?

Yeah I ran out of money and figured I would install one before I raced it, but my right foot got a little too heavy next to my buddy's Cobra. Goerend offers 2 flexplates a laminated and a billet one.

well, seeing that you've got stacked boxes and plan on racing you might want the billet one. give Dave a call and tell him how you plan on using the truck, he won't BS you into buying the more expensive one if you don't need it.

Isnt Beefed up Flexplates just 2 stockers welded together?

Goerend's flex plates have a nice engraved logo on them, get a look before it is installed tho, most likely never see it again.

I ordered my flexplate from Dave when I got my tranny from him and he sent me an ATS SFI plate.... nice and shiney..... and I haven't seen it since I installed it......

and talk about something that is heavy as a MO-FO.... makes the stocker seem like a piece of paper....... I was supprised of how inadequate the stocker (to me) was..... but I guess it was built knowing how well built the stock tranny and converter was...... not at all....

Bought my SFI billet plate from DTT when I bought the trans.....New plates are almost too pretty to put in!

I'm pretty sure an '84 305 chevy flexplate is built stronger than the 3rd gen plates, I was pretty surprised when I first saw one. think of it as 'fusible link' which will only allow a certain amount of power to run through the trans. this 'certain amount' being less than the factory engine output. interesting.

I am running a Goerend billet flex plate. I had it put in when I had my tranny built. The flex plate I got from dave had GB engraved on it.
