Hey guys,

New to the forum. Just bought a 2013 Ram 2500 6.7 Laramie 4x4 Mega Cab. This is not my first diesel, but my first Dodge diesel. I come from the dreaded 2006 F250 6.0.

Just wanted to give my first impressions on the truck. Of course it will be somewhat biased as I did buy it.

First: Fit and Finish - WOW!, this thing is amazing, way more than anyone will ever need, even has wifi, the nav system very user friendly, the in dash screen to me is even cooler than the nav system, has every type of monitor and readout you would need for hauling.

Second: Power is unbelievable. I dont have a heavy foot, but on the test drive i looked down and was doing 75 and didnt even realize. Shifts seem less and smooth. Great acceleration. On the vehicle breakdown sheet at the dealer the GCWR was rated for 25,000# with 3.42 gears.

Third: MPG - I only have 127 miles on it so the numbers are preliminary, but on the way home I was avg 22 mpg. Super impressed. The dealership said I could expect to get 14 or so hauling my 10,000# trailer and after break-in I could expect to see around the 25 mpg range.

Last but not least this truck is actually my wifes! Haha!

Update

Just got back from a 700 mile trip hauling the camper. After all was said and done I averaged 9.6 mpg pulling. Though this is not the 14 that I was told was achievable it pulled effortlessly. Most of these miles were in the hills so I would expect better on flat ground.

Good news is after 1100 total miles on the truck the highway mpg is still around the 21-22 mark. Avg 18.5 between city and highway.

Also I stopped to get diesel and added DEF (at the pump $2.29 a gallon )and used a total of 2.5 gallons over the 1100 miles. Didn't think that was too bad.

Will keep you updated on the progress of the truck. I know there are a lot of skeptics or lack of fans on the new emissions control, so I will be a guinea pig for you.

After filling up several times with diesel, I have my first complaint. I'm not a big fan of the capless fill. On the 13's it has 2 flapper valves (not the technical name obviously) that makes filling up a pain. Depending on different hose designs, some seem to get in a bind and hang up on the valves.

Just a gripe, but not a deal breaker.

cap less fill:humm:
Don't always believe what the dealer tells you when it comes to fuel milage.
And it's normal to loose fuel milage when your towing, and your motor is still breaking in.
