5.9 cummins as a daily driver?
I would like to introduce myself my names Vince and I'm in the market for a truck. I currently drive a 2006 pontiac Grand Prix as my daily driver the car gets great gas milage but has been giving me all kinds of problems lately. Let me tell you what my needs for the truck are I drive 80 miles round trip to work but only work 6 months out of the year so I would drive about 15500 miles a year just going back and forth to work not considering other things. I have a jeep that I go rockkrawling with it weighs 5000lbs plus a 2000lb 18ft trailer I tend to go wheeling about 6 times a year I currently tow it with a 2012 gmc yukon and it does OK but it struggles on the hills.
I'm going to sell the car and try to pick up a used cummins my budget is $10000 but I could daily drive my jeep and save up more if need be. What year models do I need to look at? How many miles are to many? The main thing I need is a durable truck that's reliable I tend to keep vehicles for 10+ years. I will also be a first time diesel owner if that makes a difference.

My 06 has high miles, right around 240 but it was a one owner and the car fax was clean. It was a highway hog! So I didn't feel so bad about the miles. The 2nd gens are starting to get old. Maybe need a rebuild, who knows just be careful on what you buy. Hate to buy someone else's problems! I personally love cummins trucks so Im probably kinda biased Maybe someone else will chime in here.
