Default Explanation Please

Looking to get a Dodge cummins dually 4x4........been reading and some of the cummins have a thinner block How do I determine that I'm getting the better engine?........Which one or ones do I stay away From??

53 blocks are the ones know to crack. but a small % of them crack

what years are the 53 blocks in and how do I recognize them....?
