Gutted Torque Tube

This is a simple mod that only costs a little time.

Pic 1 shows the center section of the stock tube...simply remove the tube from the turbo and air intake , then remove the two rubber elbows.

Pic 2 shows the location of the seem where you will use a large slotted screwdriver of simmilar tool to gently pry all the way around the tube untill you hear a snapping noise....this is the plastic weld breaking..

Pic 3 shows the contents of the stock torque tube...this is what your after...just pull it streight out of the tube.....

Pic 4 shows the tube after its been "gutted".....

You will need to reseal the end of the tube where it was pryed apart...any good silicone glue will work.....

There is also a set of "fins" in the elbow in front of the turbo...I left mine in , but if you want it out , it will simply pull streight out......

One word of caution on this mod. After I installed the Quad Monster Air , the tube came apart where it had been glued. This was due to the stock rubber elbow that clamps to the air cleaner housing being on a bind. If your running a BHAF or stock air box , you won't have any problems.

i did it, didnt really notice much sound difference, not as much as i wanted

I did it to my HO 04.5 and didn't notice any real difference. I was expecting a lot more noise. I figured that if Dodge had gone to that much trouble to design and make that baffle, that it would have done something.

A cold air intake of BHAF will make a ton of difference in the noise department. You wont notice any significant difference if you are still using the stock airbox....

I actually just did the same thing, plus removed the silencer ring. I also ran a 4" tube out of the bottom of the stock airbox and added an Amsoil Ea filter. Now I can hear that nice turbo whine!

I went down to the local truck shop, picked up a piece of 5.5 aluminum tubing and cut it the same lenght of the placstic one, painted to match, and re-assembled. Sounds AWESOME!
