Anti Freeze Flush and Thermostat Replacment
Well ive been putting off doing a flush and t stat replacement,
I known something isn't right for a but because my heater wasnt getting very hot. Today i got a CEL for cold water basically and i notices the engine temp hanging on the cool side so i stoped and got a t stat , blue permatex, radiator flush and 3 gallons of antifreeze today ~$70 , i have to get 3 gallons of distilled water still |
Have fun! I just drained the coolant out the 89 to do the head. God what a mess. :D
|
yeah, its expensive, had to do the same thing when i replaced my cracked radiator last fall. i reccomend taking the radiator out and at least pressure washing it clean as well. my old one was partially clogged in some areas.

Chad, if I may suggest, take the antifreeze back and get John deere cool gard. I'm running it in the truck and it works best of anything I've heard of. Warms up quick and cools the best in the summer, and its good for 5 yrs/5000 hrs.:pca1:

Spend the extra $$ and get a thermostat from Cummins.
|
maybe we are lucky but the carquest thermostat in my boys truck has worked perfectly for over six months since we changed it. ED

Its a coin flip - some guys have trouble with aftermarket, and some do not. Engines can be damaged by a faulty thermostat, therefore, I would rather get the Cummins job. JMO.

i got a napa t stat and fleet antifreeze , its just going to have to do
|
i think youll be fine with that, napa usually has decent quaility parts.

I did a video of the flush and t-stat change , it turned out pretty good with lots of funnies in it :)
