Fuel Lines

has anyone ever changed the stock fuel lines from the tank all the way threw to the injection pump and out threw the return line. im looking at doing custom fuel lines and gettin rid of the banjo bolts and the overflow valve.but i was wondering if any has done it and maybe had part numbers, or will it hurt the truck, im tired of having fuel problems, and its a stock truck, having a hard time getting the 1/2 inch fuel line that goes from the lift pump to the fuel heater and even trying to buy it buy the foot is hard to get as well.:argh:

Absolutely, you can do that.

www.vulcanperformance has everything you need. It is likely not listed in the website - but call and to Eric if you can. Be advised good diesel rated fuel line is not cheap.

this thread helped me out also because i got a leak and atm i dont have the time to fix it, is there any quick fix to patch a small hole?:argh:

dodgeman129 03-07-2009 08:25 PM

well u could try to jb weld it but i dont think it would hold and the diesel would eat silicone so that wont work either there was this stuff that our local parts salesman showed at work it was awesome but i cant think of what it was called it sticks to anything but it was like 100 bucks for a 4oz tube

The only quick fix there is to cut the line where the hole is and insert a barbed fitting with hose clamps on either side. I wouldnt really consider that a quick fix though - you may as well go ahead and replace all the line instead of doing a band aid fix.

Make sure you use diesel rated fuel hose, not the stuff for gassers.

well i got the new lines on my truck but i went with 1/2 inch lines and i was thinking i dont have any replacement for the overflow valve now i was wondering if i could take it off and put fittings on it and more 1/2 inch line

94cummins12v 03-12-2009 11:52 PM

you could do that if it would seal. do you have any pics of the parts included

dodgeman129 03-13-2009 08:03 PM

i dont have any pics yet i wil have to work on it this weekend i got the 12valve upgrade kit from vulcan and i thought it would come with the return side of the pump but its only the feed lines and i did the lines coming from the tank forward already, i have heard that the oveflow valve goes bad on the p7100 so i thought just take it out

Dr. Evil 03-13-2009 08:10 PM

You cant take the overflow valve out. Get yourself a new one from cummins.

alright that works for me thank you, ill get one cause i dont think it has ever been changed

Dr. Evil 05-15-2009 07:56 PM

So, Dieselminded - do you remember what sizes all the fittings in the 12V fuel system are?

I need all new lines and have not teared into it yet. I want to change all the lines from the tank (and back) to 1/2"...but need to know what size of fittings are on the Lift pump, fuel filter and Injector pump.

Its best to start your own thread instead of posting in someone elses.
