Squeak On Shut Down?
 

so i have noticed that when i shut my truck off , along with the customary shake and rattle it squeaks. ??? it has almost reached the "break in" mileage point , so is this a normal diesel thing along with the shake and rattle? or should i have it looked at? I cant really tell where it is coming from... its hard to locate.... and it aint for the lack of trying.lol there is nothing weird about the way it is driving or anything so ...i was just curious. thanks guys!!!! yep what he said, all cummins do it even the big rigs at work. I wouldnt worry about it unless it annoys you that bad:U:

The 2nd gen trucks are so much louder we get really good at listening for odd things that aren't supposed to be there and really worried when it is quiet all of a sudden!:pca1:

I'd say, leave your belt alone until the one that is on there starts to wear.

it means your truck is going to blow up....... kablammmmoooooo

Now the obvious question. Have you checked the condition of your belt? Does it have any squeeks or weird sounds while running?

Tensioner may be getting weak also. If it has a few miles on it, may consider replacing it, along with the idler bearing.

This was my other suspect

im not sure if anybody said this or not but i heard that the "cummins chirp" is because of the high compression ratio, while everything is still spinning the crank comes to a stop and the belt chirps

truck is still under 30,000 miles. yes i have and everything looks normal, as i said b4 no changes while driving just at shut down it has a short loud chirp.. but i mite get me a new belt any way just to be sure, couldnt hurt i suppose:humm:

Your still under the 36k warranty. Have Dodge replace the alt pulley w/ one that has a clutch in it. There is a TSB out for it.

Im not freaking out lol...geez! i was just replying too the new posts...thats all. I thought it was normal b4 i made the thread but i just wanted to be sure. my motto w my truck is better to be safe than sorry lmao and any new lil squeak or rattle or sound,, i wanna know why it is there and if it is 100% normal and if it can pose any problems in the future. so at least when it does break ill have a mental note of" oh i remember when this and this happened....and they said it could cause this and this later on... know what i mean???:humm:" yeah im a little obsessed so what!:tttt:

yeah i understand you'll be hearin plenty of new squeaks and rattles in the dodge thats for sure. but ya either love em or hate em, i love em i just listen for new engine noises all the other squeaks and stuff are just fine:c:

I've always heard it called a 'power chirp' that only a Cummins can do, I like it!

Mine has made that sound since the day I drove it off the lot.
